About

Hi, Nice to meet you…

This is the story of Jessie and Charlie the blue bicycle.  We’ve been blogging here since 2010 and now we’re on BostonBiker too…You can find us on Twitter @quemadmodem.

Say hello to Charlie….

Charlie on the North Bank Bridge

Charlie on his first trip over the North Bank Bridge, he remembered his lunch box!

Charlie has been in my life since June 2010, we’ve gone just over eight thousand miles together. Charlie is a Steyr-Daimler-Puch from the ’70s, a Bergmeister frame made in Austria. This is the bicycle that has seen me go from-here-and-there-fair-weather cyclist to come-blizzard-hurricane-zombie-apocalypse-I’m-still-going-to-ride cyclist.

New addition to the family

Bumblebee

This is Bumblebee.  Charlie’s new (to me anyway) little sister, she has gears!  She’s a Bianchi Veloce with a Campagnolo groupset.  She’s the fastest, lightest, saucy minx of a bike I’ve ever owned.

Newest Edition to the family, the yoga master

This is Mercutio, a folding bike, by a company called Montague.  He is the youngest in the family.  He is the first bike build I’ve ever done – not welding but choosing all the components and assembling myself.  I had generous help from Hub Bicycle Co., super awesome LBS, as Emily built Mercutio’s rear wheel by hand, just for me – and no gratitude can cover the amazing assistance with the brakes.

Some posts may overlap, or be unique to each blog, still finding the focus…
